The Regional Airports Company Limited has made available 18 land plots in the vicinity of the Faresmaathoda Airport to be developed into guesthouses. Those who are interested are required to submit their expression of interest before 1400hrs on April 26, and the necessary documents will be sent to them via mail.
In March, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially opened the Faresmaathoda Airport, which was constructed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) at a cost of USD10 million. The airport features a 1,200m runway equipped with navigation lights for nighttime landings and a modern-looking terminal with a seating capacity of 150 passengers.
The Faresmaathoda Airport project, which began in 2021, involved land reclamation on islands near Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to enhance transportation systems in the southern region and support the growth of local businesses and job opportunities.
