A 19-year-old local male who was being treated at ADK Hospital for dengue fever has died on Tuesday.
The deceased who passed away whilst being treated at ADK Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been identified at Adam Viyam, 19, Ranmiuy, AA. Thoddoo.
AA. Thoddoo Council’s Vice President Aminath Fazla told local news that Viyam had passed away approximately 15 days after he began seeking treatment for dengue. Fazla noted that it has been a week since Viyam was placed in ICU, following the deterioration of his condition.
Viyam passed away on Tuesday morning. His funeral prayer will be held after Asr prayer.
An 8-year-old girl also passed away on Monday, whilst being treated for dengue. Statistics by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show an increase in dengue cases this year.
