MP Mohamed Aslam, Chairperson of the Committee on National Security Services (241 Committee), stated that the parliamentary committee plans to release as much information as possible about the May bombing against Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.
MP Aslam made the remark during a press conference on the 241 Committee probe today. He stated that the committee report on the May terror attack is nearing completion and that they would need an extra week to complete it.
Aslam went on to say that the committee report is based on material gathered by the committee throughout the investigation, some of which concerns national security. He did, however, emphasize that the committee will be sharing as much information as possible.
He further stated that deliberations within the committee on which material should be made public are underway, but no final decision has been reached. The committee can opt to simply disclose portion of the information with the three heads of the government, he added.
He emphasized that the committee’s position is to disseminate as much information as possible and that the committee report will be completed by the end of the month.
