Six companies have expressed their interest in developing an airport at Th. Vilufushi.
The Ministry of Housing, Planning and Infrastructure announced the opportunity to submit an expression of interest for developing airports at 4 islands, including Th. Vilufushi, B. Thulhaadhoo, Sh. Bilaiyfahi and Hdh. Makunudhoo, back in January.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih speaking at MDP’s ‘Rahvehi Fathis’ program said that 6 companies have expressed their interest in developing an airport at Th. Vilufushi. Currently, the government is in the process of shortlisting these companies and the company to be contracted for this project will be announced soon, he added.
Developing an effective and convenient transportation system is one of the major aims of the government. Maldives currently has 14 airports, including 3 international airports.
