The Ministry of Tourism revealed that 70% of tourism industry workers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with 96 percent having received their first dose as part of the “I am vaccinated” programme.

In February, Maldives started a large-scale Covid-19 vaccination programme for airport and tourism industry employees as part of the country’s efforts to revitalise the tourism industry.
The “I’m Vaccinated” campaign aims to spread a positive message about vaccination among tourism industry workers while also discussing actions that are being implemented to guarantee the Maldives remains one of the safest travel destinations in the world.
The government intends to make the Maldives the world’s first fully vaccinated tourism sector, and the tourism minister stated that the industry is expected to recover in July.
