A 73-year-old man has been arrested for sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl on a central island in the Maldives.
Maldives Police Service confirmed on Monday night that they had received reports of a 16-year-old girl being sexually abused on an island in either Kaafu, Vaavu, Alif Alif, or Alif Dhaalu Atoll.
They added that a 73-year-old was arrested in the case last night. They further revealed that the man will be presented at the Criminal Court today for a remand hearing, adding that the case is now being investigated further.
In addition to this, a 60-year-old man was also arrested last Sunday night for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl either Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal or Shaviyani Atoll.
