Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has reported that work on the design and construction of the Aa. Ukulhas Harbor quay wall and jetty has reached 75 percent completion.
The placement of precast concrete blocks required for the construction of the quay wall and the installation of mooring hooks has been finished, according to MTCC, with work on the harbor pavement still proceeding.
The project involves dredging and excavation operations totaling 19,630 cubic meters, the construction of a 31-meter breakwater, a 136-meter quay wall, a 138.73-meter jetty, and the installation of 580 square meters of harbor pavement.
The Aa. Ukulhas Harbor development project is expected to cost MVR 19.9 million.
