Addu Equitorial Hospital has successfully treated twins born 6 months or 27 weeks premature.
The hospital has stated that is a remarkable success story for the hospital and its incredible team.
Dr. Fathimath Amaanee Naseer of Addu Equatorial Hospital said the male twins were sent to the hospital from Fuvahmulah Hospital shortly after they were born three months ago.
The twins did not even weigh a kilogram at birth and were in critical condition. They were treated with patience and care by the hospital’s team to nurse them back to stability, according to Dr. Amaanee who lauded the hospital’s nursing team for their tireless effort.
“To treat premature births in an artificial environment is a great challenge in itself. However, with the improvement of facilities available at the hospital along with the hard work from the hospital’s team, we are making steady progress” she added.
The twins were discharged from ICU and moved back to the maternity ward yesterday after being treated at ICU for 64 days.
