Air India, India’s flag carrier, has announced new direct flights between Mumbai and Maldives.
Beginning July 28, India’s national airline will fly nonstop from Mumbai to Male’ on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
All travelers, including those who have received the recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccinations, must have a negative PCR test with a sample obtained 96 hours prior to departure to the Maldives. Children under the age of one are excluded from the PCR test requirement.
The Maldives reopened its borders to South Asian tourists on July 15, after briefly suspending tourist visas for South Asian visitors in May 2021 owing to the region’s deteriorating COVID-19 situation.
Additionally, South Asian visitors to the Maldives are not authorized to stay at tourist facilities on residential islands until the end of July.
