Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Relations has approved the appointment of the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aishath Shan Shakir as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany.
The committee unanimously voted to approve the appointment of Shan as the ambassador to Germany after reviewing her appointment on April 25. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih requested the Parliament of the Maldives to approve the appointment of Shan for the position of Ambassador to Germany following his decision to recall Ambassador Ahmed Latheef and appoint him as the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shan is the first female to serve as the Chief of Protocol at the foreign ministry. She previously held the position of High Commissioner to Bangladesh. She had also held the positions of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in addition to other top positions.
