Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been granted the Alifushi Airport construction and land reclamation project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure (MNPHI).
In a ceremony held at MNPHI on Tuesday, MNPHI Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq signed the agreement on behalf of the government, and MTCC CEO Adam Azim signed on behalf of the company.
The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 451.6 million, with a completion time of two years.
In R. Alifushi, 50.5 hectares of land would be reclaimed as part of the project, with 40.5 hectares set aside for the airport. According to MTCC, the airport will have a 1200 meter runway.
