Ali Ashraf resigned as a member of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today.
His decision to step down comes after the People’s Majlis Committee on Independent Institutions conducted a performance audit of the ACC and decided to dismiss him.
Ashraf had delivered his resignation letter to the President’s Office since ACC regulation requires all members to resign in writing to the President.
The five-member commission presently consists of ACC President Maryam Shiuna, Vice President Fathmath Anoola, Member Ibrahim Shakeel, and Member Aisthath Abdulla.
This is the first resignation from the ACC by a member nominated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
