COVID-19 vaccinations procured from AstraZeneca Singapore will be administered in the Greater Male’ area beginning this Saturday.
Nashiya Abdul Ghafoor, Public Health Program Officer (Immunization), announced today during a news briefing at the Health Emergency Operation Center that AstraZeneca immunization program began in residential islands on Tuesday. She further added that six immunization centers will open on July 31 in Male’, Hulhumale, and Vilimale to administer AstraZeneca vaccines on an appointment basis.
Furthermore, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced that AstraZeneca vaccinations will also be administered as a second dosage for those who have received a Covishield shot.
According to the most recent HPA data, over half of the eligible population has received the required doses of COVID-19 vaccinations, with 261,605 people fully vaccinated and 321,429 receiving the first shot.
The government will also begin a mass vaccination campaign next month, with the goal of vaccinating 90% of the population by the end of August.
