Senior military officials from the Maldives and Bangladesh have conducted talks on offering training opportunities for Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) troops.
The discussions took place during the visit of Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff, General Aziz Ahmed, to Minister of Defense Mariya Ahmed Didi. The meeting’s discussions centered on strengthening the two countries’ defense cooperation.
The discussions focused on disaster assistance and anti-human trafficking measures, increasing allotments for Maldivian doctors at the Armed Forces Medical College in Dhaka, and training possibilities for Maldivian military personnel.
During the meeting, Minister Mariya expressed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s sincere greetings and gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh for its generous help to the Maldives in times of need, spanning from the 2004 tsunami to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh, General Aziz extended warm greetings and best wishes to President Solih, the government, and the people of Maldives.
