Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has completed the official part of her visit to the Maldives, which began on December 22.
She landed at Velana International Airport on December 22 on a state visit at the request of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and was greeted by top officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to local media, she is presently vacationing in the Maldives after completing the formal portion of her visit. She will end her visit and return to Bangladesh on Monday.
The official segment of Prime Minister Hasina’s visit to the Maldives included bilateral meetings between the two nations on topics of common interest such as health, education, sports, and human resource development.
The establishment of a direct shipping route between Bangladesh and the Maldives was also addressed at the meeting, and Prime Minister Hasina announced the Bangladeshi government’s plan to restart issuing on-arrival visas to Maldivians.
Following the conclusion of the discussions, four key agreements were signed between the two countries. The Maldives also received symbolic keys to 13 military vehicles donated by Bangladesh during her visit.
