The Bank of Maldives (BML) has provided financial assistance to the building of a library in R. Fainu under the BML Community Fund program.
Fainu Association for Community Endeavours (FACE), a local NGO on the island, launched the idea to build a library in Fainu.
According to BML, the goal of this initiative is to instill the habit of reading in young people and to develop an educated generation.
In addition to convenient access to a wide range of literature, the library has a computer lab with three computer systems that students may use for study or research.
Furthermore, as part of the project, the area in front of the Fainu Community Centre was improved with seats and bookshelves for the comfort of guests.
The BML Community Fund is a program that encourages people and non-profit organizations to give back to their communities through long-term initiatives.
