Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor was honorably discharged from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) on Thursday after 37 years of service.
Defense Minister Mariya Didi awarded him with an honorable discharge medal and a letter from the president during a ceremony at the military headquarters in Bandaara Koshi.
In addition, Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal presented him with a letter and a photo board, while Vice Chief of Defense Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef presented him with a symbolic card of retirement.
Zakariyya Mansoor entered the military 37 years ago on March 13, 1984, and throughout that time, he rendered excellent service in several departments of the military.
He spent the most time in the Coast Guard, serving as Director-General, Deputy Director-General, and several command roles.
He also served as MNDF Central Area Commander, Chairman of SIFCO’s Management Committee, member of the Training and Evaluation Committee, Managing Director of Kadhdhoo Airport, and MNDF’s Chief Spokesperson.
He was most recently the Director-General of the National Counter-Terrorism Center, and he has been awarded with a total of ten medals and eleven ribbons for his committed service, achievements, and discipline.
