The Canadian government has donated CAD 1.3 million to support the Maldivian government’s effort to boost medical waste management in an environmentally sustainable way.
The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday in which the Canadian government along with the World Health Organization (WHO) approved the project.
The Disinfection of Medical Waste project also aims to help the country’s fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The fund will be used to procure 40 autoclaves to enhance the sanitization and medical waste management in 10 health centers.
