Maldives Police Service has urged sea travellers to exercise caution during the current rough weather conditions.
Maldives is currently experiencing rough weather, with Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) forecasting heavy rain, accompanied with strong gusts and rough seas.
As such, Police urged travellers to exercise caution and take all precautionary measures, as well as to abide by safety regulations. The authority specially warned against overloading goods on vessels, while ensuring that all required communication appliances and protective gear such as life jackets are onboard and in usable condition.
The general public is also advised to check local weather forecasts ahead of travelling and to refrain from travelling in bad weather.
