China National Electrical Engineering Company (CNEEC) has been awarded the contract by the Maldives Fund Management Corporation (MFMC) to begin the Hankede Integrated Tourism Development Project.
The project will focus on developing 1,041 uniquely designed rooms offering diverse accommodation options. According to the MFMC, the project will revitalize the Addu region and enhance the tourism experience, creating opportunities for residents to benefit from integrated tourism through employment and by fostering small and medium businesses.
The government’s goal is to introduce 8,000 new tourism beds in Addu. Hankede is among the regions in Addu known for its specialization in tourism, featuring hotels, guesthouses, and other related businesses.
