The government has extended the closure of government offices in the Greater Male’ Area until June 29.
As a preventive step in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the government offices were closed according to the Health Protection Agency’s (HPA) strict COVID-19 guidelines.
According to the directive, all government offices in the Greater Malé Region (Malé, Hulhumalé, Villingili, Thilafushi, and Gulhifalhu) are to remain closed, with employees directed to work from home as needed.
A bare minimum of staff will be permitted to remain in their individual offices to continue providing all necessary services without interruption. Exclusions must be approved by a minister or the head of a department or institution.
