The government’s COVID-19 expenditures have risen to MVR 3.3 billion, according to the Ministry of Finance.
According to weekly reports on COVID-19 spending, the government spent MVR 1.6 billion on health and social activities related to the pandemic by 6th May.
When compared to its peer hospitals, IGMH had the highest weekly costs, at MVR 1.8 million, with the majority going to operational services.
The disbursement of income support payment was covered by the economic response expenditure. During that time, MVR 6.3 million in income support allowance was disbursed. The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) received MVR 1.6 million in payments to provide income support allowance.
Authorities are working to increase the health sector’s capacity to treat patients in order to combat the COVID-19 outbreak, and spending is expected to rise in the coming days.
