Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, reported an additional 118 cases of COVID-19 infections in the Maldives, increasing the tally to 19,597.
As reported by HPA, the 118 new cases includes; 92 cases from the Greater Male’ area, 05 cases from islands outside Male’, 16 cases from operational resorts, and 0 case from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 17,132 people have made full recoveries in total.
Maldives currently has 2,397 active cases and 170 patients are being treated in Hospitals and Medical Facilities while 61 COVID related deaths confirmed so far.
Maldives started COVID-19 mass vaccination program on February 1. HPA states 6,073 individuals were inoculated today and from that 2,926 were from the atolls.
105,492 individuals have now been vaccinated under the program.
HPA also announced new restrictive measures to curb the spread of the virus including the ban of dine-in services of restaurants and cafes in Greater Male’ area from 20:00 to 22:30. Moreover, on-campus classes for grade 8 and below has been suspended.
