Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, reported an additional 167 cases of COVID-19 infections in the Maldives, increasing the tally to 20,447.
As reported by HPA, the 167 new cases includes; 135 cases from the Greater Male’ area, 17 cases from islands outside Male’, 15 cases from operational resorts, and no case from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 17,712 people have made full recoveries in total.
Maldives currently has 2,664 active cases and 180 patients are being treated in Hospitals and Medical Facilities while 64 COVID related deaths confirmed so far.
HPA further announced more restrictive measures including the closing of parks and theaters along with ban on gatherings more than 5 people.
Maldives started COVID-19 mass vaccination program on February 1. HPA states 7,712 individuals were inoculated today and from that 4,144 were from the atolls.
137,224 individuals have now been vaccinated under the program.
Authorities today decided to extend state of public health emergency until April.
