Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, reported an additional 186 cases of COVID-19 infections in the Maldives, increasing the tally to 19,979.
As reported by HPA, the 186 new cases includes; 152 cases from the Greater Male’ area, 23 cases from islands outside Male’, 10 cases from operational resorts, and 1 case from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 17,343 people have made full recoveries in total.
Maldives currently has 2,567 active cases and 181 patients are being treated in Hospitals and Medical Facilities while 62 COVID related deaths confirmed so far.
Maldives started COVID-19 mass vaccination program on February 1. HPA states 5,700 individuals were inoculated today and from that 3,612 were from the atolls.
117,115 individuals have now been vaccinated under the program.
HPA also announced new restrictive measures to curb the spread of the virus including the ban of dine-in services of restaurants and cafes in Greater Male’ area from 20:00 to 22:30. Moreover, on-campus classes for grade 8 and below has been suspended.
