Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, reported an additional 196 cases of COVID-19 infections in the Maldives, increasing the tally to 19,793.
As reported by HPA, the 196 new cases includes; 178 cases from the Greater Male’ area, 04 cases from islands outside Male’, 12 cases from operational resorts, and 2 cases from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 17,249 people have made full recoveries in total.
Maldives currently has 2,475 active cases and 179 patients are being treated in Hospitals and Medical Facilities while 62 COVID related deaths confirmed so far.
Maldives started COVID-19 mass vaccination program on February 1. HPA states 5,923 individuals were inoculated today and from that 3,632 were from the atolls.
111,415 individuals have now been vaccinated under the program.
HPA also announced new restrictive measures to curb the spread of the virus including the ban of dine-in services of restaurants and cafes in Greater Male’ area from 20:00 to 22:30. Moreover, on-campus classes for grade 8 and below has been suspended.
