The Government plans to issue vaccine passport in Maldives for easier travel, said Health Minister Ahmed Naseem while talking to national radio channel Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu.
In the same interview, Minister Ahmed Naseem urged all Maldivians to get vaccinated so that “we can travel anywhere” with Covid-19 vaccine passport.
“We are currently looking into creating a vaccine passport”, he said. In addition, Minister stated people who do not get vaccinated will face inconveniences and it will be harder to travel, both domestic and international. “If there’s a vaccine passport, there will be no difficulty in travelling overseas, or within the country”, he said.
Maldives started the vaccination campaign at the start of last month, and around 145,768 people have received first dose of the vaccine. The second dose will be given after eight weeks.
