Commissioner of Police (CP), Mohamed Hameed, has warned that Maldives Police Service will take swift action against the gang who attacked Police officers on Friday afternoon.
Tweeting regarding the issue, CP Hameed stated that the injured officers belonged to the Drug Enforcement Department (DED). He added that the off-duty officers were attacked by a gang and that Police will take swift action against them.
CP Hameed claimed the attack was orchestrated by a well-known gang that operates in Henveiru. CP Hameed said they will take swift action against the perpetrators involved in the attack and this will not cease operations against organised crimes and drug trafficking. He further added that extensive work needs to be done to enforce a stop to organised crimes and drug trafficking. CP Hameed said MPS will always prioritise protecting the citizens.
Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly attacking three Police officers while off-duty on Friday afternoon. The officers are now receiving medical attention at ADK Hospital.
