The Ministry of Health today explained that the delays in depositing salaries for health workers were due to the entire Human Resource Department of the ministry testing positive for COVID-19.
Executive Director of the Health Ministry, Aminath Shathufa said that the ministry is currently dealing with a lot of COVID-19 cases. Moreover, entire HR department has tested positive for COVID-19 and everyone is in quarantine. However, most of them have now been released from quarantine.
Shathufa also said that they are now sending salary sheets to the Ministry of Finance to disburse salaries. She predicted that all salaries will be deposited before Wednesday.
Several health sector workers have expressed concerns regarding salary delays.
