Pediatrician Dr. Ahmed Faisal has warned regarding the rise in dengue complications this year.
In a tweet, Dr. Faisal said that many children are requiring ICU care and blood transfusions. Moreover, a toddler younger than 1 year had been admitted to the ICU due to complications from dengue fever.
Dr. Faisal further explained that the child had to have a blood transfusion due to the blood loss caused by the disease. He also shared an update on the two other children admitted to the ICU and said that they have now been shifted to the ward as they are on track for good recovery.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that 294 cases of dengue fever were reported in June of this year and urged the public to prevent breeding sites to stop further escalation of the illness.
