Dhiraagu has stated that they are optimistic about renewing their re-broadcasting license of Dhiraagu TV service.
Due to the changes in Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) re1broadcasting license regulations, Dhiraagu has not been able to renew their Dhiraagu TV license. As per the new regulations, companies with foreign shares cannot get rebroadcasting license in the Maldives – Dhiraagu’s majority shares are owned by Bahrain’s BATELCO.
Dhiraagu stated on Sunday that they are hopeful about renewing the Dhiraagu TV license, and that they are in discussions with MBC currently. Dhiraagu further stated they will share updates with the customers.
Dhiraagu TV license will expire in January 2023. As such, if Dhiraagu is unable to renew their license for Dhiraagu TV, the service may get discontinued.
