Dhoogas City Hotel project previously contracted to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has now been handed over to Addu International Airport, according to Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer.
Speaking at the MDP campaign event for Local Council Election, Minister Ameer stated that the settlement agreement is set to be signed between MPL and Addu International Airport.
Minister Ameer also revealed that MPL took a mortgage loan to fund the project and government will try to adjust the loan repayment through the state budget.
The loan was acquired from Bank of Ceylon to develop the first phase of the city hotel project. First phase plans included 42 rooms and the second phase plans included an additional 78 rooms.
Previous administration contracted MPL to develop a city hotel in Dhoogas. However, ever since the current administration came into power all the project works have been halted.
