President-Elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has set an ambitious target to finalize the Velana International Airport (VIA) development project by September of the upcoming year. Speaking at an event hosted by the Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI), he emphasized that achieving this goal would greatly benefit all sectors.
While noting that transitional committee findings indicate the project’s current schedule anticipates completion in July 2025, President-Elect Muizzu is determined to collaborate with stakeholders to expedite the project. To ensure a speedy execution, he plans to preside over daily project status meetings at the President’s Office and soon visit the site.
The event brought together prominent members of the Progressive Party of the Maldivese (PPM), the People’s National Congress (PNC), and notable business figures, who conveyed their challenges to President-Elect Muizzu and expressed their support for the new government’s economic revitalization efforts.
Furthermore, President-Elect Muizzu reiterated his commitment to advancing the construction industry and nurturing businesses while accepting a commemorative plaque on behalf of the MNACI and the National Federation of Maldivian Employers.
