Spokesperson of the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) and Senior Medical Officer at the Health Protection Agency (HPA), Dr. Nazla Rafeeq has been featured among the women leaders responding to COVID-19 in South Asia, by Amnesty International.
The article highlighted women from all over South Asia, who have been actively making positive impacts during the pandemic. Amnesty International featured Dr. Nazla among strong female voices.
Dr. Nazla, who is currently leading the HEOC’s efforts as the Spokesperson, was involved in the national COVID-19 response of the Maldives right from the very beginning and as the head of contact tracing.
Amnesty quoted Dr. Nazla’s thoughts about women in the Maldives as, those who “have been on the forefront of the COVID-19 response, leading public health, healthcare and the management of the COVID-19 response nationally.”
