Male’ City Council has stated its intention to transfer over to the Ministry of Education the land plot that previously housed Ameer Ahmed School for the development of an educational institute.
At a press conference to distribute information about the Male’ City Council’s efforts, Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that the property plot would be leased to the education ministry for 35 years. He also disclosed that the decision was made in response to a request from the President’s Office and the Ministry of Education.
Furthermore, Mayor Muizzu said the benefits of an educational institute to the inhabitants of the capital city and the country as a whole were examined by the council.
The land area that was previously utilised for Ameer Ahmed Pre-School and Henveiru Ward Office. Currently, it houses an Islanders Education Private Limited-managed pre-school.
The need for school placements has increased over the years as the number of families migrating to the Greater Male’ region has increased.
