Ali Ashraf, who recently resigned from Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has been appointed as National Tender Board’s Chairperson.
According to an official from the Finance Ministry, Ashraf was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Tender Board on January 11th.
National Tender acts as the secretariat body of the National Tender Board. It is mandated to regulate and administer the public procurement function by formulating fair, equitable, transparent, competitive, and cost-effective policies, procedures, and processes for the procurement of goods and services, works, consultancy services; and induce accountability of government agencies concerning tender. National Tender undertakes all procurements above MVR 5 million.
Ashraf resigned from his post at ACC after the parliament concluded in the performance audit of ACC that they were under par and recommended the removal of its members. However, Ashraf denied that his resignation is related to the performance audit, rather it is a personal decision.
