The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has unveiled the logo for its revamped multi-zone football league for the 2023/2024 season.
The event to launch the official logo for the revamped football league was held at the Galolhu Stadium on Friday night with Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof as the chief guest.
The event also offered more information regarding the new multi-zone league format and the qualification process for the first time in the Maldives.
The 2023/2024 league football season will start with four zones or leagues;
- The North League will have clubs from Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, and Raa Atolls.
- The Central League will have clubs from Baa, Lhaviyani, Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu, Vaavu, Meemu, and Faafu Atolls.
- The South League will have clubs from Thaa, Laamu, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu, Addu, and Fuvahmulah Atolls.
- The Male’ League will have the current first division clubs.
FAM stated that three divisions of football will be played in each league season which includes the first division, second division, and the new open division for atolls. 61 clubs from 53 islands have participated in the open division qualification.
FAM hopes to rejuvenate the support for football throughout the Maldives with the new format.
