The Ministry of Environment has contracted the operations of rainwater harvesting systems in four islands to Fenaka Corporation.
Rainwater harvesting systems were established in 8 islands of Huvadhu Atoll under the project titled “Supporting Vulnerable Communities in the Maldives to Climate Change Induced Water Shortages”. The project is run via the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), under the funding of Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Fenaka was contracted to operate the rainwater systems in 4 of the 8 islands where the systems were established, which includes the operations of rainwater harvesting systems in Nilandhoo, Kondey, Maamendhoo and Faresmaathoda.
The rainwater harvesting systems were installed by the UAE based Water Engineering Company Limited.
