Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has called on the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Prosecutor General (PG) to speed up the investigation process into corruption allegations, especially those lodged against senior government officials.
Speaking during the ceremony to launch procurement guidelines and job classification framework for State-owned enterprises, Ameer said the most crucial step to stopping corruption is having easily accessible mechanisms to lodge corruption complaints and establishing a whistleblowing platform.
Minister Ameer said that he will provide his full cooperation to curb corruption in this country.
Speaking regarding the procurement guidelines and job classification framework, Minister Ameer said this is a way to weed out discrepancies and corruption from state-owned enterprises. Moreover, the job classification framework will help to ensure fairness and capability.
He further stated that the government has established an Internal Audit Committee and expanded its work in order to improve the efficiency of the procurement system. Moreover, the government is also working on recovering financial transactions flagged in audit reports.
