A massive fire engulfed a yacht, identified as Majesty 62, off the coast of the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands in North Male’ Atoll, earlier today.
The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) received the alert about the fire at 07:37 am, prompting an immediate response. Firefighters from the Male’ Fire Station were rapidly dispatched to the scene aboard a Coast Guard Second Squadron harbor craft.
Efforts to contain the blaze were successful, with firefighters gaining control at 09:48 am and completely extinguishing the fire by 10:14 am. Remarkably, there were no reported injuries, ensuring the safety of both tourists and crew aboard the yacht.
In a swift and coordinated response, all individuals on the vessel were safely rescued and transported to the Fari Islands via one of the resort’s speedboats.
The incident has caused significant damage to the yacht, leaving it partially wrecked. The cause of the fire remains uncertain and is currently under investigation.
