The Maldives Police Service detained five people for alcohol possession after searching a speed boat and a taxi.
The five individuals were captured on December 9 during a police drugs operation in the Greater Male area.
According to officials, among those detained for alcohol possession were a Bangladeshi national and four Maldivians.
Police added that during the operation, they discovered 12 boxes of alcohol on the speed boat and three boxes of alcohol in the cab.
In addition, six people were arrested in two separate operations on Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll, on the same day, according to police.
Five Maldivians and a 28-year-old Sri Lankan were detained in Maafushi on suspicion of narcotics smuggling under the operation, authorities said.
