The notice letter sent by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) to STELCO obtained by local media outlet ‘Mihaaru’ states that Shareef will assume the duties and responsibilities of the Managing Director position of STELCO from Hassan Mughnee starting today.
The shuffle of senior positions at major State-Owned Enterprises was rumored earlier this week. Shareef was heavily accused of manipulating the results of 2018’s Presidential Election by the opposition PPM, despite Shareef having previously worked with their leader Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
Mughnee is set to be appointed to the Energy Authority run by the Environment Ministry but has not officially been announced yet.
