Former Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodig was named Minister of State for National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure on Sunday.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih delivered the letter of appointment to Sodig during a special ceremony conducted on Sunday morning at the President’s Office.
Sodig earned his bachelor’s degree in applied science and chemical technology from the University of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia.
He had previously served as Mayor of Addu City for three consecutive terms, but he was defeated in the MDP’s primary election for Addu City Mayor by current Mayor Ali Nizar.
