Yusuf Maniu Mohammed, former Chairman of the National Integrity Commission (NIC), has been designated as the Commissioner General of Customs. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented the appointment letter to Maniu during a ceremony at the President’s Office on Monday.
Before receiving the letter of appointment, Maniu took the oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir. This position holds the rank of State Minister. Notably, Maniu previously served as NIC President from October 2015 until his removal in November 2017, where he claimed a lack of cooperation from the police in the commission’s investigations.
In addition to Maniu, President Muizzu announced the appointment of Hassan Zareer as the Commissioner of Prisons. Other appointments made on Monday include Fahumy Hassan as the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ibrahim Amir as the State Minister of the Sports Ministry.
