Fuvahmulah City Council has announced that it will award rewards to the winners of a draw among the city’s fully vaccinated residents, including an MVR 1,000 cash prize.
Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq told a local news site that the draw will be done among people who finish their COVID-19 doses between August 26 and September 2.
According to the city council, three people will be chosen at random to receive MVR 1,000 apiece, while five others will receive free restaurant dinners.
The city council reported that 75% of the city’s eligible population has finished their doses, and that cash prizes are being offered to increase that ratio to 90 percent.
Fuvahmulah was placed under monitoring measures last week after a surge in COVID-19 cases, the third time since the pandemic began, with 172 active cases.
