Island Aviation Services, the country’s national airline operator, has signed an agreement to lease Gan International Airport’s flight training school for three years.
The leasing deal with Gan International Airport was signed to conduct a flight school under a joint venture between Island Aviation and Maldives National University (MNU), according to a statement issued by Island Aviation.
In a ceremony held in Addu City on Thursday, the agreement was signed by Island Aviation Managing Director Mohamed Mihad and Addu Airport Managing Director Gais Naseer.
The MNU-Island Aviation joint venture firm will run a flight school in Gan, Addu City, in collaboration with a Czech aviation institution.
According to Island Aviation, students who are having problems finishing their studies at Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) will be offered priority entry to the new flight school.
