Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail has announced plans to conduct a feasibility study for the potential development Gan International Airport.
During an event in Addu City, as part of the ongoing campaign for local council elections, Minister Fayyaz said a consultant team from India is set to arrive at the end of the month to conduct the study. He said the project will be funded by loan assistance from EXIM Bank of India.
He further stated this project aims to solve existing problems in the airport and the construction is planned to start in the third quarter of this year.
Minister Fayyaz said the government expects an increase in total bed capacity in the area with the development of Gan International Airport, describing it as “a chicken and egg situation.”
