In a tragic incident, two lives were lost when a gas cylinder exploded outside a warehouse on HDh. Makunudhoo Island on Saturday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses and video footage have provided insights into the horrifying event. The explosion occurred near the island’s harbor, where the warehouse was utilized to store materials related to the ongoing sewerage network project.
The victims of this unfortunate incident were the two individuals who were present near the warehouse at the time of the explosion. These workers were employed by the company responsible for land reclamation activities linked to the development of an airport on the island.
The explosion had a devastating impact, with parts of the gas cylinder and body fragments being propelled as far as 200 feet from the site. Tragically, this resulted in the separation of limbs and even decapitation. The two individuals who lost their lives in this catastrophic accident were of Indian nationality.
The incident is currently under investigation, with authorities working to determine the exact cause of the gas cylinder explosion.
