Global tech goliath Google has added Dhivehi language among 23 other languages spoken by more than 300 million people to its Google Translate platform.
Google says the new languages also represent a technical milestone, explaining that they use a machine learning model which learns to translate into another language without ever seeing an example. The move now brings the total number of languages available on Google Translate to 133.
However, Google believes they need to go a long way to fully develop Google Translate, noting there are about 7,000 languages spoken in the world. The inclusion of the Dhivehi in Google Translate is a major milestone and a step toward enhancing the use of the language.
Google Translate has helped break down language barriers and connect communities all over the world.
