Ministry of Home Affairs has acquired 100 Monitor and Control (MoniCon) tags for the monitoring of criminals.
The home ministry stated that the tags will be used as per the Prevention of Terrorism Act. The ministry said although the tags will be attached to 100 individuals at first, more tags may be brought in depending on circumstances.
MoniCon orders are issued by the High Court based on a request by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The tags will enable the government to monitor the activities of an individual released from prison.
